4.2. Basic BIFS Features by Example

In this section, scenes of increasing complexity are described, in order to introduce the basic BIFS features in a gradual manner. To describe concisely and yet precisely the building of a scene, a textual BIFS representation is needed. The MPEG-4 XMT-A format was the natural choice, although it is only introduced in Chapter 6.

In the first three examples, elements of a reformulation of DVD content as MPEG-4 content are explored.
