Chapter 3. Transforming Objects > Use the Falloff Options

Lesson 3. Use the Falloff Options

What You’ll Do

In this lesson, you’ll learn how to use the various Falloff options available in the Numeric panel.

The Falloff controls let you define the movement of the selected portion relative to rest of the selection. For example, you can specify that the selected polygons move the full amount and adjacent polygons only move half as far. Almost all of the commands on the Modify menu tab include falloff options. You can access these options using the Numeric panel, which you open by clicking the button at the bottom of the interface (or by pressing N). Falloff options include None, Linear, Radial, Point, Polygon, Point Radial, and Weight Map. Each of the Modify tools has a different falloff method applied by default. For example, the Drag tool is set to use the Point falloff method and the Shear tool uses the Linear falloff method.
