Chapter 19. Rendering Basics > Environment and Effects Dialog

Environment and Effects Dialog

Additions to the scene such as fire, fogs, and volume lights are specified in the Environment panel of the Environment and Effects dialog. The dialog can be chosen from the Rendering menu.

Even if you don't specifically want your outdoor scene to take place on a foggy day, adding a little bit of fog can help give a realistic distance effect. Looking at Figure 19.10, you can see a flat and uninteresting rendering of a city. It looks sort of like a miniature. Because of the nature of the shot, we don't really want a depth-of-field effect, either. The whole scene needs to be in focus.
