Editing the Patch Surface

After you apply the Surface modifier to a spline cage to create a patch surface, you must go through some editing processes to turn it into a complete cushion. First and most noticeably, it is still a half cushion. You use the Symmetry modifier to mirror, slice, and weld two halves together in one operation. If you Arc Rotate in the Perspective viewport, you notice there is no bottom surface on the half cushion (see Figure 10.13), nor will there be when it is a whole cushion. You learn to apply a Cap Holes modifier to create faces as a cushion bottom.
