Coordinate Systems in 3ds max 6

Users can easily identify with the World reference coordinate system in 3ds max 6 because it is defined by the default grid planes that show in the viewports when you start max. However, the World reference coordinate system is just the starting point for the possibilities for maneuvering and manipulating objects in 3D space.

The World coordinate axes in 3ds max 6 follow common mathematical practice. If you were graphing on paper, X would be the horizontal axis and Y the vertical axis of the paper. 3D space is defined by the Z-axis, which projects off the paper toward you.
