Adding Fill Lights to Simulate Bounced Light

All the light in this scene is coming from one source: the Sun01 directional light. The shaded side of objects is pure black. In reality, light would bounce off surrounding surfaces and elements in the atmosphere and “fill” the shaded area with a softer, weaker light.

In 3ds max 6, using Standard lights, you have to simulate that effect by adding fill lights and adjusting the intensity for the values you deem appropriate for your artistic view.
