Wrapping It Up

Now that you have gone through the modeling process shown in this chapter, you should have a good idea of the strengths and limitations of modeling with each kind of surface in Maya. Knowing how and when to best use each kind of surface in Maya will make you a better modeler, one who is more efficient when creating characters. The goal of modeling is to create a skin that not only looks good, but that also deform well during the animation process. The next step toward animating your character is to create the skeleton deformers and animation controls. You learn how to do this in the next chapter by creating your character rig.
