Wrapping It Up

The techniques described in this chapter should give you several approaches to creating a full set of animation controls for your character’s face. Because there is no one right way of doing this, the methods you use are up to you and depend on the expressive needs of your character. When all the parts of your character are fully bound and weighted, your character controls are almost complete. The last step in setting up your character is to create a MEL-scripted interface for your character controls. Many animators consider using MEL controls as the easiest and most efficient way to animate a character. In the next chapter, you learn how to create a full-featured set of these controls.
