Maya gives you a powerful capability to create multiple types of user-defined attributes. These user-defined attributes can control or be controlled just like any other normal node's attributes can. For example, you can use an attribute to control the on or off state of several weighted point constraints, creating a blended control that allows a character to smoothly pick up and put down an object. Giving full control over your setup using a few basic keyable attributes makes your file easy to use, modify, and update later, when changes need to be made.
