Chapter 7. Methods > Set Your Sights

Set Your Sights

Before you set off on any journey, you're well advised to have your destination clearly in mind. In our project, we've taken the time to carefully design the key elements and decide upon broader guiding principles for those things we're brave enough (or hurried enough) to do by the seat of our pants. So, no matter how caught up we get in the demands of the moment, we know where to turn to see how we're doing.

Your projects might bear little resemblance to ours, but there will surely still be models to build and budgets to respect. Although it's always tempting to just forge ahead and see where your modeling feet take you, it can be an act of hubris that you soon regret. In all but the simplest cases, it's smart to make sure you've identified just what you'll be modeling and have the appropriate reference material close at hand.
