Summary

If you are given a specific problem, a powerful exposed architecture enables you to creatively take full control over nodes and connections to build or construct any sort of predefined behavior. By linking nodes that previously had no distinct relationship, you can almost always solve even the most difficult problem. This is the strongest thing about the way Maya works: It exposes as much as possible to the user without dumbing things down with too many useless features that do some sort of special hidden magic. It exposes to you the raw data inputs and outputs, and it enables you to connect directly to the attributes that hook into the computation for any node directly. Yet, somehow, it still makes it possible to build complex relationships between attributes in a completely intuitive and creative way. This is the major advantage of Maya: It is both simple and complex at the same time. Don't you just love it?
