Chapter 19. Lighting > Color Scripts

Color Scripts

A color script is an image or set of images that will describe an entire movie in terms of color. A fully saturated beginning might turn to a despondent monochromatic blue and end with a triadic celebration. A good example of this is the painting in Figure 19.25, which expresses the color and mood of light throughout the piece. You can find the color piece in the source images folder of the Lighting project on the CD.

Figure 19.25. The color script image for our Parking Spot animation was based on an Edward Hopper painting. Max painted in water-based gouache, scanned it, and then made the script through image processing. In black and white, there is still a full range of values.
