Chapter 18. Shading

All the animation is complete, and now it is time to give life to the surfaces with shaders. Shader creation inside Maya is extremely fun—and equally confusing at times. You will want to take a ground-up approach, both literally and figuratively, to avoid confusion. You will start shading and texturing the scene with a multitude of techniques. You will work your way up figuratively by first understanding the visual qualities of the materials needed for the shaders.
