Chapter 10. Organic Modeling > Post Processing: Finishing Touches

Post Processing: Finishing Touches

No matter how good a rendering engine is (and LightWave has one of the best), you can almost always get a bit more out of an image by using a few post-processing techniques. This is not cheating. All that matters is the final image, not how you get there, and 2D post processing is just as valid as modeling, lighting, or surfacing. In fact, try to think of it as the natural final step in the entire 3D process.

Some things are just easier to do in post. Things such as altering the final tonal and color qualities of an image are much quicker to do in a 2D image application than by constantly tweaking things in LightWave. Plus you have the advantage of being able to change your mind or try a variety of options quickly without having to go back and spend a long time re-rendering a sequence.
