Part V: Appendixes > Using Motion Capture in LightWave

Using Motion Capture in LightWave

Most motion capture systems cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $100,000 (US). As such, the everyday animator usually does not have access to this technology. However, you can buy just about any pre-made motion capture file from various sources (listed later in this chapter) and use them in LightWave. Credo Interactive’s Life Forms software, for example, not only lets you edit and manipulate motion capture data, but also comes with hundreds of pre-made motions. These motions can be exported to LightWave and applied to a character.

Follow along with this exercise to see how easy it is to use a preexisting motion capture file on an object in LightWave.
