Bone Weights

Bone weights help you set up a limited range of influence on the bones you create in LightWave. The bone weights feature, which you’ll find in Modeler, automates the process of creating weight maps that approximate what the normal bone influence would be. Before you can use bone weights, however, you must have Skelegons already in place. Skelegons are discussed in greater detail later in this chapter. After a weight map is created, you can adjust the maps to suit your needs through the Bone Weights feature. Figure 11.19 shows the Make Bone Weight Map panel in Modeler, found under the Map tab list of tools.
