Chapter 11. Character Construction

You might be the type to dive right into character animation in LightWave, or you might be the type who thinks you’d never use the character animation tools in this software. But the reality is that the Bones and Skelegon tools available in LightWave 7 for creating movable characters can be used for animations other than those involving characters.

For example, say you want to create a street scene and you’d like some blowing newspapers flying by the camera. By using a couple of bones in the newspaper, you can bend and deform it. Or, say you need to create a beating heart for a medical animation. By adding a few simple bones and skelegons into the heart model, you can make it pulse, grow, and beat as you need.

So, whatever your situation might be, you should read through this chapter, because it will provide you with a solid understanding of these new tools and show you how to use them in your animations.
