New Manipulators

In the main toolbar located just to the right of the select/transform tools is a new button called Select and Manipulate. This button gives the user access to manipulators that are similar in nature to the gizmo sub-objects of modifiers—they enable the user to change certain object parameter values interactively in the viewport.

Not all primitives and extended primitives have manipulators associated with them. Generally only spherical or cylindrical shapes with a radius parameter have manipulators such as sphere, geosphere, cylinder, capsule, oil tank, and the ever-present teapot, to name a few. Spline shapes such as the circle, Ngon, and arc have manipulators as well. Manipulators can also control spotlight hotspots and falloff cones, the new HI-IK solver’s swivel angles, the Reactor Controller’s influence, reaction state and reaction value, and UVW Map modifier coordinate and tile parameters. Object manipulators appear as green gizmos in the viewport (see Figure 1.12).
