Spring Controller

The new Spring controller is used to apply secondary lag motion to the selected object based on either its own animated motion or the motion of another object(s). It is different from the effect achieved using the Flex modifier in that the Spring controller works only at the object level and will not distort the geometry of the object. It can be useful to add a sense of weight and momentum to solid objects or to apply realistic momentum effects to things such as cameras or lights.

To apply the Spring controller, select an object and go to the Motions panel. In the Assign Controller rollout, select the Position track and click the Assign Controller button. Pick Spring controller from the list. A Spring Properties window appears (see Figure 3.31).
