Suitable Web File Formats

Along with general computer graphics file types, there are many files specifically suited to the Web. You'll examine each type in detail in upcoming sections. First, I want to discuss some of the general features of Web formats.

The two most commonly used Web graphics formats are GIF (Graphical Interchange Format) and JPEG (Joint Experts Photographic Group) , although a great deal of interest has been placed in a relative newcomer to the Web scene, PNG (Portable Network Graphics).
