Hour 9. Applying LiveMotion Styles > All About LiveMotion Styles

All About LiveMotion Styles

In Hour 8, “Working with the Library Palette,” you had the opportunity to see the power of a single palette at work. LiveMotion styles work similarly to the library. There are preset options, as well as methods to add your own styles to the preset designs.

Preset styles contain layer and attribute data that can be applied to an existing object of any kind (drawn, text, image, or library) within a composition. Applying a preset style to any of these objects changes the object's attributes to those of the style. You'll get to see exactly how this works in detail as you do the exercises in this hour. For now, it's important to understand that preset styles already contain backgrounds, fills, textures, and dimensional effects. Therefore, you can achieve an effect—a drop shadow, for example—without having to create the layers and the attributes on your own.
