Chapter 2. Modeling the Head > Reference Materials

Reference Materials

As with the character's body, you would do well to use reference materials when modeling a low-poly face. Action figures, toys, and dolls are particularly good references for low-poly faces as they do a great job of representing the human face without a lot of detail.

Personally, I have a collection of figures from favorite animated films such as Toy Story and The Little Mermaid, plus a few Warner Brothers characters. If you visit your local fast-food chain when they're running a film or cartoon promotion, you can gather up quite a number of figures for the meager cost of a burger and fries.
