Preparation and Planning

Good planning is essential to the success of any project. Everyone knows this instinctively, but putting it into practice is often more effort than most people realize. Typically, a team will discuss a project until close to the deadline, and then suffer through long hours of high-pressure work, only to generate a mediocre presentation. It's better to learn to channel that discussion time into a clear “battle plan” so that everyone knows the expectations and obligations of the project.

Even the smallest projects with only one or two members of the staff will benefit from a solid plan going into production. And when the project involves more than a few collaborators, developing a solid script that each team member can refer to as the work progresses is paramount to ensure everyone is working toward a common goal in an organized manner.
