Working with Primitives in an Outdoor Scene

Many other modifiers and workflow techniques can be used with 3D primitives. You'll learn just a few of these in the next set of exercises as you create a landscape and sky for the airport scene. In this and the next sections, you'll use ShapeMerge to define a runway and then modify a hemisphere primitive by flipping the face normals toward the viewer so that the hemisphere is visible when looking up, away from the land.

You'll also get some practice using the Modifier stack and modifiers to gain editing flexibility and hopefully reduce overhead for faster production, both very important goals when working in 3ds max 7.
