Lesson 6. Working with Particles > Changing the Emitter Shape

Changing the Emitter Shape

So how do you spread out your particles? All you need to do is change the emitter shape. The Emitter Shape parameter includes a pop-up menu with six choices:

  • Point— Emits particles that emerge from a single point in the center of the emitter. This is the default setting and is why all the fish are stacked in the same spot in the frame.

  • Line— Emits particles that emerge in a line. You can specify the coordinates of where the line begins and ends.

  • Circle— Emits particles that emerge from the edge of a radius around the center of the emitter. You can adjust the diameter of the circle to make it larger or smaller.

  • Filled Circle— Emits particles that emerge from a circle around the center of the emitter. You can adjust the radius of the filled circle to make it larger or smaller.

  • Geometry— Emits particles that emerge in whatever shape you add to the Shape Source well.

  • Image— Emits particles that emerge from an area defined by an image you add to the Image Source well.
