Masking with Blend Modes

Although most of the blend modes discussed in Chapter 4 cause overlapping objects to interact with each other without creating any specific areas of transparency, you’ll find the Stencil and Silhouette blend modes useful for manipulating the alpha or luma information in an object to create a mask.

To create a mask with a blend mode:
