Using the Master Track

The Master audio track is located at the bottom of the Audio tab (Figure 14.9). Once you have created your mix by adjusting levels and pans for individual tracks, you can use the Master track to set the overall level and pan for the entire mix. The Master track includes a pair of level meters that indicate the current level while the project is playing. The level meters also warn you if the overall volume ever goes high enough to cause clipping, or digital distortion. You can turn off or mute all tracks at once with the Master track. You can also keyframe the Master level and volume controls to change over time, as described in “Keyframing Audio” later in this chapter.
