Chapter 9. Using Filters

Chapter 9. Using Filters

The variety of effects you can achieve by applying, stacking, and animating filters is truly mind-boggling. Need to bring up the mid-tones in a video clip, create light rays on some text, key out the blue-screen background of a special effects shot, add a soft glow to a warm evening shot, or add a lens flare? You can correct, enhance, or radically change the look of video, graphics, and text by applying one or more of the over 100 filters included in the Motion Library. And if you have third-party filters that you use with other applications, you may be able to use those as well.

Filters alter the look of objects in your composition by blurring, shifting colors, distorting, tiling, making them glow, or by otherwise manipulating the visual information. You can enhance the look of an image or video or change it so dramatically that you’ll be hard pressed to tell what the original object was.
