Lesson 7. Using Blend Modes

Lesson 7. Using Blend Modes

Lesson Files APTS Motion > Lessons > Lesson07
Time This lesson takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Goals Learn how to apply blend modes
  Adjust text styling and color
  Modify the properties of media

Blend modes are the secret of modern motion graphics design—of modern graphic design in general, for that matter. Think of blend modes as defining the kind of material an object or layer is made from. To use an analogy, imagine building materials such as plastic, glass, and wood. If you were to paint a design on plywood, you'd see the design but not what's behind it. Plywood is opaque, so if you hung up the design in a window, the light coming through from the window would be blocked out; all you'd see would be the painting.
