Lesson 5. Particles and Parameter Behaviors > Using the Still-Proxy Method

Using the Still-Proxy Method

Motion can do some pretty amazing things in real time, but at some point everybody hits a wall, no matter how fast the hardware. A great way to regain the interactivity of your animation while building particle systems is to use a still proxy in place of an animated movie.

NOTE

The processor calculates the trajectory of particles. If you have a slower processor in your system, the still-proxy method described here probably won't speed things up—the bottleneck on a slower machine for working with particles is more likely to be the CPU than the graphics card.
