Motion Coordinate System and Dynamic Guides

Motion Coordinate System and Dynamic Guides

In After Effects, the positions of objects in the comp are measured from the top-left corner of the viewer. So if a composition were 640x480 pixels, an object at its center would have position values of 320, 240 (half the width and half the height).

In Motion, the coordinate system originates from the center of the screen. So if an object were dead center in the Canvas, its position values would be 0, 0. If you moved it 20 pixels to the left, its value would be –20, 0. Move it 20 pixels to the right, and its value would be 20, 0, and so on.
