Chapter 14. Working with Maps > Applying Mapping Coordinates to Objects

Applying Mapping Coordinates to Objects

Mapping coordinates match the pattern of a map to the surface of an object. When you assign a mapped material to an object, both the object and the map must have mapping coordinates assigned to them in order for the map to render properly.

Mesh primitives and compound objects are automatically assigned mapping coordinates when they are created. Other types of objects must have mapping coordinates assigned to them.
