Accessing Technical Support

If you have any problems with your 3ds max installation or use, the following resources are available to help you:

  • The Installation Notes in the Readme file located in the 3dsmax 4 main directory.

  • The Authorized Dealer who sold you the product. To obtain the number of an Authorized Dealer, call (800) 879-4233.

  • The 3ds max User Reference files, located in the Help menu (Figure 1.5).

    Figure 1.5. The Help System is an interactive system of reference accessed from the Menu Bar. You can open it from the Help menu within 3ds max.

  • The Discreet Support Pages on the Web at http://support.discreet.com/. A well-referenced source of questions and answers.

  • The Product Support HelpFile in the 3ds max Help menu under Additional Help Updated quarterly and posted on the Web.

  • Product Support: (425) 489-7519, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Installation and configuration support is available for free for 30 consecutive business days. Have your product serial number ready when you call.

    After the first 30 days telephone support costs $65 per incident. From the United States and Canada: (800) 225-6531

  • Autodesk 24-hour FAX Support Information System at (415) 446-1919. Select option 2 and enter 100# to receive a fax of available support documents and their document numbers.

  • The Autodesk Product Information Line at (800) 964-6432.
