Chapter 7. Animation > Configuring Time

Configuring Time

Time is surprisingly flexible. It can move fast or slow, speed up or slow down, or appear to stand still. When you are immersed in work that you love, the hours fly by in the blink of an eye. At other times, when there is resistance, time crawls as slowly as the hands of a clock. In the mind of a child, a year lasts an eternity. But in the memory of an elder, years collapse into moments, like dewdrops suspended in a spider’s web.

3ds max gives you the ability to manipulate time, and conduct the mysterious rites of relativity. With max, you can make frames run faster, or slow down to only a few frames per second. You can make an animation last longer or shorter, and you can even scale time up or down to change the speed of action and the timing of events.
