Chapter 12. Rollovers > Basic rollovers

Basic rollovers

A ROLLOVER IS A CHANGE that happens to an object on screen when the mouse is moved over it or clicked on it. A "classic" roll over is a button that changes color when the mouse is over it (called the Over state) and then changes to another color, changes to another shape, or undergoes some other change when the mouse button is clicked (called the Down state). In LiveMotion, states are assigned to an object via the Rollovers palette.

Technically, what happens "backstage" is that LiveMotion exports each of an object's rollover states as a separate image. The browser then substitutes a rollover image for the original image to produce the rollover effect.
