Working with layers

The Layer palette is used to precisely control the x-y (horizontal/vertical) location of the currently selected layer relative to the overall object, to modify its width or the softness of its edges, or to cycle through its different fill options. First, the fill options.

The "Fill with" pop-up menu on the Layer palette has a better memory than we do. It remembers which color, image, and texture was last applied to each layer, and it retains all this information even after you perform other operations, or even save, close, and reopen the file. You can cycle through the different fill options whenever you like.
