The first step in Muse is as easy as creating a new document in InDesign. Instead of creating an InDesign document (.indd) that contains as many pages as you need, with Muse, you start by creating a site file (.muse) (Figure 2.1). That site file is similar to an InDesign file, because it contains the pages as well as master pages for your entire Web site.

In Muse, after choosing File > New, you are faced with the New Site dialog box. Working with familiar print concepts like “columns” and “gutter,” you can set up the page size, columns, and more for your Web site (Figure 2.2). Of course, this can all be changed later, as needed.
